5 Beauty Brands I’m Currently Loving
There are 5 beauty brands I am currently loving right now, and some of them might surprise you if you’ve been a reader of this blog for a while.
The following post is partially sponsored by Clayton Shagal. All opinions and experiences are my own. Sponsored blog content allows Girl Loves Gloss to continue to grow and provide quality, free content.
I say some of these products/brands might surprise you, because they are brands I’ve either never talked about, or perhaps even felt underwhelmed by in the past.
Either way, some of these beauty brands and products are new to me this year, some I’ve been using for a while, and all of them have aided in some new-found enthusiasm for the beauty industry!

Available at Clayton Shagal
When Clayton Shagal reached out to see if I would like to try some of their products, I was initially thrilled to have another Canadian beauty brand in my rolodex of skincare to test!
Of course, regardless of where a brand calls home, the products really have to shine to get me excited, and Clayton Shagal is known for a rather innovative product known as their Collagen Plus Gel*.
If you’ve never tried collagen in your skincare routine, you aren’t alone – neither had I! It’s such a unique product; The gel texture melts into the skin leaving behind the most plump, fresh texture that then becomes a perfect canvas for the rest of your routine and makeup.
The Collagen Gel Plus is meant to take 60 seconds to fully absorb into the skin (if it isn’t after that time, you’ve applied too much!), but get this: after a few weeks of use it will penetrate slower, meaning you can use less, because your skin will be better nourished! This was definitely the case for me, as I was suffering from some wicked skin dehydration that was making my makeup look… gross to say the least, and now my skin feels so much more plump and smooth.
I also found two other gems in the range. The Bamboo and Honey Exfoliant*, packs a serious punch that true scrub lovers will adore, and the Cucumber and Avocado Mask* follows up the scrub for the perfect facial-at-home duo. Both products rather unassuming in the packaging, but really impactful on the skin!
Smashbox
Smashbox is a brand that really fell off my radar a while back. While I adore several products from the range, like the Photo Finish Primerizer Priming Moisturizer and Photo Finish Hydrating Primer Water, both products I’ve repurchased several times, there just wasn’t anything innovative calling my name in recent years.
I feel like the last 6 months has had me rediscovering the brand thanks to some new launches, and I’ve loved everything I’ve tried so far! After previously not loving complexion products from the brand, the new Halo Healthy Glow All in One Tinted Moisturizer* was a big hit for me.
I also recently raved about the new Always On Cream Shadows* – which I am still loving and reaching daily for their long wear and ease of use.

Flexitol
Did you know that Flexitol is for so much more than just your feet? I didn’t at first either! I had known them for their Heel Magic – which truly is magically for peeling, rough, cracked feet.
Then I discovered the Flexitol Lip Balm – which works the same magic on peeling, dry and cracked lips! It was love and first swipe, and I’ve continued to repurchase over and over. It’s a total bargain at under $6!
There’s even a whole range for kids, and the Flexitol Happy Little Bodies Eczema Relief Cream* went instantly into my toddlers night time routine. If you have ever struggled with rough, cracked, eczema-prone or severely dry skin, Flexitol is not a brand you should be sleeping on!

Melt Cosmetics
Available at Sephora | Beauty Bay
A brand that has really stood out to me in the last year is Melt Cosmetics. Previously, the indie brand didn’t grip me with their bold palettes and eyeshadow stacks, but the blushes… well we all know thats the way to this girl’s heart!
I took a chance on the Blushlight in Nevermore, a golden bronze rose shade and it was an INSTANT fave! The glow these blushes give is incredible, yet it doesn’t emphasize my pores or texture.
I recently picked up one of their regular powder Blush in Honey Thief, and it’s a stunning peach nude that will go with absolutely everything. I love a good “don’t need to think about it’ blush!
So I guess you can guess what I’ve just ordered – one of their new Digital Dust Duos in Raw Honey, which I can’t wait to dip into!

BK Brushes
Available at BKBeauty.com
I was lucky enough to get the chance to try BK Beauty brushes last year, and let me tell you as a brush snob, they are lovely!
Created by Youtuber LisaJMakeup, BK Beauty brushes are incredibly well thought out, with there really not being a redundant brush in the entire range.
I adore the 106 Round Foundation Brush* for buffing in my base, and the 102 Large Powder Brush* is perfect for the most featherlight, airbrushed dusting of powder or bronzer.
The BK Beauty 204 Smudge It Brush* is the softest I’ve tried and smudges shadow and liner along the lash line evenly every time. Oh and need a new blending brush? The 206 Blending Shader* has replaced all my MAC 217’s put together; It’s never scratchy or coarse and picks up and blends shadow like a dream.
I’ve had good luck with Essence products the few times I’ve tried them. Very reasonably priced and good quality!
