WHEN I FALL IN LOVE WITH A SKINCARE PRODUCT, I FALL HARD.
That means I buy them over and over, and always keep them around, regardless of what else I am trying.
I consider these my litmus test; It’s easy to phase in new products and see how they perform when I know that my skin always reacts well to my litmus tests. If you have sensitive skin, or find your skin sometimes reacting when you try new skincare product cocktails, this is a great way to manage that.
in honour of drugstore week, I’ve collected 6 products that I know and love very, very well. One of these products is even part of the reason I decided to start my blog!
6 HOLY GRAIL SKINCARE AND BATH & BODY PRODUCTS FROM THE DRUGSTORE
I’ve tried my fair share of fancy expensive skincare and bath & body products in my day. And some of them are amazing. But there are also SO many amazing options at the drugstore, pharmacy, high street these days that perform incredibly.
I think it’s important to state that I would never class a single one of these items as “good for drugstore pricing”. They are just really fab products, period.
Ahhh the serum that changed my skin forever for the better!
I discovered this back in 2012 sometime after reading about it on Caroline Hirons blog, and I’ve been forever grateful since. When all else fails, I always turn to this.
It’s a hyaluronic acid serum that makes any other skincare I wear on top that much more impactful. My skin drinks this up, and always looks plumper and more hydrated when I’m using it regularly.
Do I really need to say anything? I’ve talked about this stuff forever.
The first time I tried this, I genuinely expected very little. I am picky about my cleansing oils and find so many of them leave my eyes filmy. But this formula is gorgeous.
It smells like roses (the real kind, not the powdery artificial kind) and breaks down heavy eye makeup quickly. I love that it emulsifies into a milk, and then washes away cleanly. Plus it’s usually under $10, which makes my wallet happy because who wants to splash out on cleanser!?
LIFE BRAND EXFOLIATING FOOT MASK // Shoppers Drug Mart
It’s pretty rare I use store brands. When I saw that Shoppers Drug Mart had their own line of masks, and one of them was a peeling foot mask for under $5, it was a no brainer!
If you’ve ever dropped $20+ on one of those foot masks that leave your feet peeling like a lizard 3-4 days later, you know the sweet satisfaction they bring. Now, what if I told you I get the same results from the Life Brand one at a fraction of the cost AND it doesn’t have to stay on your feet as long?!
When it comes to simple, effective, body creams, CeraVe has it in the bag.
The formulas are full of good for your skin ingredients like ceramides, but not with any fragrance or irritants. I’ve been through several of these tubs, but the SA formula is particularly wonderful for dry, bumpy or rough skin (like if you have Keratosis Pilaris like me!).
This is probably one of my top 3 Pixi Beauty products, and easily one of my favourite facial oils! Its a light feeling oil that sinks into the skin instead of making you feel like its resting heavy on top. Because of this, it plays nice with any skincare product I’ve attempted to pair it with!
It has the most subtle rose scent; Almost undetectable to me, but like with the aforementioned cleansing oil, it’s genuine smelling.
