October Beauty Favourites

October Beauty Favourites Hair makeup Skincare

FRIENDS, I’VE BEEN A TERRIBLE BLOGGER THIS MONTH.

Like relatively non-existent, and I get that it’s not great business. But life… Life just gets in the way sometimes. I have been squirrelling away lots of great post ideas, however. While September and October, in general, we’re just kind of crap months, I do have loads of amazing beauty favourites. Who would have guessed?

Keep reading to see what hair, skin and makeup products I’ve loved most lately.

MASTERLIST

DRY SHAMPOO
SERUM // TANNING DROPS
FOUNDATION // HIGHLIGHTER // BROW GEL
LIQUID LINER // MASCARA

I am ultra picky when it comes to dry shampoo (as in, I’ve really only ever loved one or two… ever). The First Class Charcoal Detox* from IGK is the real deal folks! I’ve turned to it on days when I really thought all hair hope was lost. It goes on clear, then turns white, but don’t freak because then it disappears with a quick massage with fingers. It gives the hair a bit of a starchy feel, which means it has great grip for updos and styling.

In the skin department, I pulled out Origins Mega-Mushroom Relief & Resilience Serum* hoping it would be a hydrating, soothing serum to counter the actives in my routine. I was not disappointed! Those who have oilier skin could probably use this and skip moisturizer. My dry skin drinks it up and instantly feels plump, soft and smooth.  It also pairs well with the Isle of Paradise Self Tanning Drops (I use Dark), which I’ve been leaning on all month to take the October out of my skin, if you know what I mean. Unlike other tanning drops I’ve tried, these have a colour correcting quality to them which means I don’t go to yellow and actually look genuinely sunkissed.

For a glowing base that still gives me all the coverage I love, the Fenty Pro Filt’r Hydrating Foundation* is still wowing me, months later [review here]. It’s the most skin-like I’ve ever seen for a full coverage foundation. I add extra gloss with the Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Light Wand in Spotlight* which is like candlelight kissed your face. It’s just dreamy.

Loyal readers will know that I’m a true lover of black liquid liner… but I am high maintenance AF about what I will use. I want super black, matte, longlasting and a very fine tip brush pen. I told you, I have lofty expectations and the Urban Decay Perversion Waterproof Fine-Point Eye Pen just nails it. As does the Perversion Waterproof Mascara*, which gives me fluffy, separated long lashes with no brow bone transfer. I actually hated the original version, so I was shocked to love the waterproof so much!

Finally, an ode to brow gel – that’s right, I may have finally found the best clear brow gel of life. Benefit’s 24 Hour Brow Setter* has completely knocked me off my feet. Who knew you could have completely set brows without the crunchy glued down feel!? Somehow this magical elixir stays soft once it dries, and yet even that one unruly hair that has never been tamed by any other gel stayed down. It’s some sort of sorcery and I am here for it.

What beauty products have you most loved lately? Has anything really surprised you?
