Three Exfoliators I Love and You Might Too

Best Exfoliators by Clarins, Lush and Clinique

When my friends tell me they are having skin problems, I always ask, “What do you use to exfoliate your face and how often do you do it?” and they usually answer with, “Nothing” and “Never”. Whether you’re dry skinned like me, dehydrated, combo, oily or just struggle with texture, knowing the right kind of exfoliator for you is key to getting your best skin! Here’s three different types that I love, and that you might too!

Lush Angels On Bare Skin* {shop here}

This is perfect for those who want a scrub in their cleanser. You can use as much or as little as you like, mix with a spot of water for the consistency that works best for you and then massage gently onto the face. It’s totally customizable to your needs; Add more water for a gentler, thinner scrub, and less water for something a little grittier. I then like to take a warm wash cloth to remove, which brings out the soothing lavender aroma even more and perfectly sets the stage for a great nights sleep!

What Makes It Work: Sweet Almond Seed Meal (exfoliating), Kaolin (purifying), Lavandula, Rosa Damascena, Chamomilla (soothing, calm redness)

How Often I Use: Twice a week in the evening.

Clarins Gentle Exfoliator Brightening Toner {shop here}

Let’s get real folks – do I even need to talk about this more? I love this stuff; It’s totally holy grail status for me. Splashed on a cotton round and once over the face nightly gives me the smoothest, clearest skin. When my skin acts up, this is what I grab for to kick blackheads, whiteheads and flaky patches to the curb.

What Makes It Work: Alpha Hydroxy Acid (sloughs away dead skin cells)

How Often I Use: Nightly, unless reaching for a physical exfoliator like the other two mentioned.

Clinique City Block Purifying Charcoal Clay Mask + Scrub* {shop here}

This is one of those ‘best of both worlds’ products that I reach for when things need a real overhaul! I love that I only have to leave the mask on for 5 minutes and then remove with a warm wash cloth in circular motions. The mask portion helps draw out impurities and the natural silica sloughs it away. This is easily one of the quickest and toughest working masks I’ve used in ages!

What Makes It Work: Bamboo Charcoal, Kaolin (removes pollution and grime), Natural Silica (refines texture)

How Often I Use: Once every week to ten days depending on the climate (summertime I use more often due to extra sunscreen and grime)

So there you have my three favourite exfoliators that help keep the dry patches at back, and my face smooth as a baby’s you-know-what. One is customizable, one works gently every night, and the other is for when I need to pull out the big guns! Please let me know what your favourite is in the comments below, and if you’re tried any of my favourites!

    1. OMG please don’t ever use St Ives on your face! That stuff is made from walnut and apricot SHELLS. It causes tears in the skin that bacteria breeds in which can then cause breakouts, hyper pigmentation and more. Honestly, I would only deem that stuff good enough for my feet!
