IF YOU’RE A LIP BALM KINDA PERSON, YOU’RE GOING TO NEED THE FENTY SLIP SHINES IN YOUR LIFE.
You all know me by now – I don’t “do” heavy longwear lip colour usually. I have dry lips, and they’re full of lines – the thought of crumbling, flaking lipcolour sends me in a spiral.
So I’m a balm girl. Creamy, hydrating, comfortable wear tinted balms are just my jam. Fenty’s Slip Shine Sheer Shiny Lipsticks basically say it all in the name (seriously though, say that name 5 times fast!).
FENTY SLIP SHINE SHEER SHINY LIPSTICKS
The Slip Shines (as I’ll be referring to them going forward because seriously that name…) are SO comfortable. They feel like a really nourishing lip balm; Not greasy or waxy but also not thin in a way that will wear off in minutes. They definitely hold the hydration longer than the NARS Afterglow Balms.
Something that’s become more and more important to me over the years is the scent and taste of lip products. Thankfully, these are a barely detectable sweet scent (as in, I’m sniffing REAL hard to find it) and taste like nothing. Fenty, I’m forever grateful you didn’t make these smell like Vanilla Fields circa ’92 or cherry cough syrup… just sayin’.
In terms of the shade range, there are 10 shades, with plenty of neutral/your lips but better (in varying “lip” tones) as well as a clear with shimmer, a deep plum and a gorgeous orange red. Many have shimmer, but not in a frosty lip look kind of way. It somewhat disappears on the lips, just translating as a luminous look that I can totally get behind!
Because the formula is so forgiving, with a buildable nature, they seem pretty easy to wear. I have naturally very pigmented lips and can usually tell within seconds if a formula will work on me. The colour payoff is significantly more than most tinted lip balms as well, making these a really nice hybrid formula!
I know packaging plays a big part in beauty for many, and for me it does to a degree. I like how slim these are, but they have a unique on-brand twist wit the hexagonal shape. They are plastic and therefore feel really lightweight in the hand. At a price tag of $29 CND, I’m happy with the packaging, but as always, I’d appreciate a magnetic closure whenever possible!
