Three MAC Pro Products & How I Use Them
DID YOU KNOW THAT MAC COSMETICS HAS PRO PRODUCTS THAT YOU CAN’T BUY AT JUST ANY LOCATION?
It’s kinda like ordering something off a secret menu 😉 If you have a MAC PRO location near you, like the one here in Vancouver, you can buy several more products than the regular catalogue. In the early days, you used to need a Pro license to order these online, but in recent years they opened it up to anyone! So I thought I would share 3 MAC Cosmetics pro products that I have in my collection, and how I use them.
FULL COVERAGE FOUNDATION [available for $43 CND] – This has a bit of a cult status now, and was all the rage about 10 years ago on YouTube with actual working professional makeup artists. It’s incredibly versatile and is often used in film and television for its ability to go from totally sheer to full coverage depending on how you use it. The wax base means that it’s quite emollient and can cover texture quite well. You can put it on with a brush and buff it in, mix with mediums like oil, primer… heck even Fix+ for a variety of finishes!
FACE AND BODY MIXING MEDIUM [available for $26 CND] – Speaking of mixing products… I bought this specifically to use with my Full Coverage Foundation to give it some slip and it gives it the most gorgeous skinlike effect. I scrape out a little, mix with a pea-sized amount of this on a palette and it turns into such a luxe cream. This can also be used to sheer any foundation , or mix with foundations that tend to be a bit too dry/matte in formula. You can even mix it with powders like pigments to create cream blushes or bronzers! Unlike shade adjusting drops, it doesn’t change the undertone of the foundation either, which makes it super versatile.
LASH MIXING MEDIUM [available for $17 CND] – You get the hint by now that many of the MAC Pro Products are meant to answer a variety of needs and this is no different. A little bird had told me that this made the most amazing brow gel, and they were right! If you hate shiny, crispy, sticky or crusty brows, you need this in your life. It gives hold, dries clear and flat, taking away that telltale shiny brow gel look and offering the fluffiest naturally full-looking brows ever!
You can also mix this with pigments to make custom mascara colours (make sure you check that they are eye-safe please!).
