The NARS Holiday 2017 Man Ray Collection is here and it’s all sorts of pretty! I was lucky enough to have several pieces of this land on my desk this week and I knew I needed to get to testing it ASAP. Last year I loved the limited edition holiday collection, and this year has not disappointed either!

NARS Man Ray Holiday 2017 Collection
Depending on which retailer you check, there are different options for the NARS Holiday Collection. I do find it a tad annoying when brands do this, but I do understand the concept of not putting all your eggs in one basket. I have a handful of the collection, which is actually quite large for the brand. Overall, I am really impressed with the offerings that I tried this year, with very few exceptions!
NARS Man Ray Shadow Duo in Debauched
Available at Sephora | SpaceNk | Nordstrom
I’ve had mixed success with NARS eyeshadow formula but this is definitely a winner! The duo is a mix of a satin raisin bronze and blackened plum with red shimmer. Unlike super glittery formulas, this shimmer suspended in this formula holds well and gives just a glimpse of something special. I love to use shades like this as a liner, or to smoke out the outer corner. Both shades have great pigmentation without a base.
NARS Man Ray Blush in Fetishized
Available at Sephora
This blush packs serious pigment! It’s a gorgeous vibrant pink grapefruit colour that you barely need to tap your brush into. It has a smooth, satiny finish that gives a subtle glow to the cheeks. If you’re a fan of that, “I’ve just been in the sun” look like I am, you will love this!
NARS Man Ray Velvet Pencil in Santiago
I’ve tried this formula of pencil a couple times now and I often forget just how lovely it is to apply! It really does glide on velvety. These are fantastic if you’re a fan of smudging some liner on your lashline as the formula really blends out nicely. The shade Santiago is a coppery brown which is a touch lighter than I normally like for the type of definition I want. If you’re not a huge liner lover though, this is probably perfect for you!
NARS Man Ray Photogloss Lip Lacquer in Muse
This might be the only piece of the collection that I really can’t see myself ever using. Truly, the only reason for that is because of the yellow gold shade; It just isn’t my bag. The formula is actually really opaque and pigmented, but I’d choose one of the other shades in the collection, personally.
NARS Man Ray Collection The Veil Palette
Available at Nordstrom |
This is such a beautiful palette! You all may remember that I am not normally a fan of Laguna Bronzer. This is the Sunwash formula and it seems to perform better on my complexion than the classic formula. It’s still a bit subtle for my bronzer loving ways, but that’s me, not the performance of the product!
The blush shade, Lovesick, is a gorgeous golden laced warm pink that has incredible pigment. I barely needed to tap my brush into it! The same goes for the gorgeous golden bronze shade, Surreal. This would be either a highlighter or blush/bronzer topper depending on your complexion. I thought it would be too dark for my NC20-25 skin tone, but I love the way it looks!
The packaging is super slim and chic in true NARS fashion, which would make it an awesome handbag addition!
I’m so impressed with how wearable most of the products in the NARS Man Ray Collection are.Sometimes I find the brand goes a bit wild with their holiday offerings and while they’re stunning to look at, just don’t get reached for. I also love that they really amped up the pigment in the cheek products; They look scary in the pan, but they blend out so beautifully!
