You guys know I am a skincare fanatic, right? I wasn’t always though. I’m 35. It was about 5 years ago I realized that if I didn’t start taking care of my skin, it wasn’t going to take care of me. What a cruel reality, am I right?
So over the last few years, I’ve been on a journey with my skin. It has certainly presented me with some challenges. So I’m taking charge of my future so to speak when it comes to having beautiful skin for years to come! I recently got the chance to partner with Vivier to not only experience my first facial peel, but have a skincare lineup put together catered to my skin needs!
An Introduction to Vivier Skincare
With the concept of strong scientific backing and innovative ingredients, Vivier was created by Jess Vivier after 30 years in the pharmaceutical industry. Amongst some of the most impressive product offerings, it’s worth noting that Vivier vitamin C serums are formulated with the highest and purest grade of Vitamin C available! Vivier aims to offer it’s customers premium, pharmaceutical skincare to prepare, target, moisturize and protect your precious skin.
Beyond the beauty, Vivier has made sure its business practices are cruelty-free, outer packaging is sustainable SFI certified and only use biodegradable microbeads.
My Experience with the Vivier Peel
What is it: A gentle yet effective professional combination peel that helps refresh, brighten, tighten and illuminate the appearance of the skin. Ideal for ageing skin, age spots, dehydrated skin, skin imperfections, oily skin, congested skin and acne-prone skin.
Active ingredients: 10% Lactic Acid USP | 2% Salicylic Acid USP | 14% Resorcinol USP
What are the benefits:
- Effective, predictable and controlled micro-exfoliation
- Safe, non-invasive and self-neutralizing
- Ideal for patients seeking little to no downtime
- Can be performed as a quick 15-minute stand-alone peel or as an extended Vivier professional facial protocol
- Enriched with Peptides and Panthenol
- Perfectly complements Vivier home care
- Ideal for a wide range of mild to moderate skin conditions
How was my experience: Given that I had never had any sort of peel before, I was a mix of intrigued and possibly a little nervous as I walked into Anti Ageing Medical and Laser here in Vancouver! Not only is the clinic bright and inviting but the list of services were extensive. My visit started by filling out a questionnaire. This was to check for any sort of medical concerns, contraindications or points of concern. Then I had some before pictures taken so that they could keep progress on file for any future visits.
“The Beauty of Results”
Upon entering the facial room, Isabelle who applied my Vivier Peel talked me through the product and answered any questions I had. I told her about my current skin concerns, which were pigmentation, dryness and hormonal breakouts. She explained that one of the reasons the Vivier Peel was such a great introduction to peels is because it has none or minimal downtime. Since it is self-neutralizing, there is no need to rinse it off afterwards and she was able to go right in with the Vivier Ultra Hydrating Mask, which felt absolutely heavenly!
After cleansing my skin and toning, she applied the Vivier Peel in two layers to target some trouble areas. I felt no burning or tingling or any sort of sensitivity but my skin felt instantly so smooth! After removing the mask, she applied Sheer Broad Spectrum SPF 45 to protect my skin as I headed back out into the Vancouver sunshine.
One week later, I’ve had some very mild peeling. This has no doubt been in part to the cold snap of weather we’ve had through Vancouver. I had two red marks from recent breakouts. They have both been healing up significantly since the peel and haven’t had a single breakout since!
The Vivier Hyperpigmentation Program (Non-Hydroquinone)
Part of my partnership with Vivier was to have my skin assessed and have a Vivier Program chosen just for my skin concerns. How could I say no?
The opportunity to have an expert take a look at my skin and listen to my concerns was amazing. Thankfully, Vivier has several programs that make it easy for anyone to target their skin concerns and treat them! We decided on the Hyperpigmentation Program (Non-Hydroquinone) because it was a gentle entry into tackling hyperpigmentation and antiageing. I will also be adding in some gentle, hydrating products to combat my dry skin at the same time.
In the Hyperpigmentation Program, you get (in the most gorgeous carrying case, might I add!)
- Medicated Wash – This is a bit much for my dry skin on a daily basis so I will be balancing with the Hexam Cleanser
- Radiance Serum – The girls at the clinic were all a titter about this saying it was one of their fave Vivier products!
- Skin Brightening Cream – I’ll be reaching for this on days when I don’t use the next product.
- Retinol 1% Night Complex – To target the fine lines and pores. I’ll be pairing this with the hydration of Lexxal Moisturizer for nights I use this.
- Exfoliant Forte – For my morning acid
- Sheer Broad Spectrum SPF 45 – Holy glow! This sunscreen gives me goddess skin vibes. I’ll be protecting my skin with it every day.
As I’ve gotten deeper into my thirties, I’ve started to really concern myself with preventative skin care. Tackling the sins of my skin past like sun damage and post-breakout pigmentation are the utmost importance. I’d love to feel just a bit more confident in going makeup free! One of the things I loved about the experience was how the Vivier Programs make it easy to know which products not only target my concerns but work with each other. With the ala carte skincare trends of the last couple of years, it can be so overwhelming to know which ingredients play nice with each other! Vivier has made it easy to get the most effective skincare for your skin type and needs.
I am so excited to take you guys on this skincare journey with me – watch this space!
