Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes Palette | Are We Over the Peach Theme Yet?
[dropcap]T[/dropcap]here’s yet another addition to the Too Faced Peach family by way of the Just Peachy Mattes Palette and honestly, it had me asking myself, “Are we over this peach thing yet?”. The brand hit a home run in term of hype with their original Peach Palette (review here). The little sister version is entirely made of matte shadows, which hasn’t always been Too Faced’s strong suit, so I undoubtedly wanted to put it to the test. Let’s see how it faired, shall we?

Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes Palette Review
Available at Sephora | Too Faced
I want to preface this review by addressing my biggest critique of the original Sweet Peach Palette; Just Peachy Mattes thankfully smells nowhere near as sickly sweet and artificial as the original. Hallelujah! I adore the scent of peach, but I found the original hard to stomach. While this certainly is not fragrance-free, the scent doesn’t linger past application.
Secondly and importantly let’s dive into the question of pigmentation. Too Faced isn’t at the top of my list for matte shadows; I often find them chalky and blending away to nothing. I was initially concerned when I swatched this palette because they don’t pick up on fingers overly well, but wouldn’t you know it – these apply with a brush really well! I’m actually surprised how well they blend on primer or bare and they build up really nicely on each other.I also don’t notice much fading near the end of the day. Clearly, this is a case of the swatches not doing it justice.
In terms of colour selection, I am really happy with the layout but wish the darkest shade ‘Chocolate Dipped’ actually went on a bit darker and richer. The shade ‘Peach Sangria’ didn’t swatch well but applied fine with a brush. Of the two pale shades, one is more yellow based and the other pinker based and I personally love it when palettes give me that option. There is a really nice mix of brow bone, mid-tone, crease and depth in this palette. It’s definitely a travel friend ‘one-and’done’ palette that has a nice full mirror and sturdy plastic packaging, as well.
If you can’t tell already by my review, this one really surprised me. I truly thought it would be a bomb and I am eating my words! I’ve found myself reaching for it plenty because of the ease of layout and find it really simple to do both every day and dramatic looks with it. I’d say if you are a warm shadow lover, then this is one to pick up!
Turns out, I wasn’t quite over the peach thing after all…
