Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Color Splash Lipstick
Folks, if you’ve been looking for a rich, full coverage lipstick that has a matte finish but feels smooth on the lips, Tarte’s just taken care of you. The new Rainforest of the Sea Color Splash Lipsticks boast regenerative lip-quenchers and antioxidants that help plump the look of lip lines. The brand also promises long wearing colour minus feathering, or dryness. I was kindly sent 7 of the 24 shade range, and I’ve put them to the test to review for you guys today!

TARTE RAINFOREST OF THE SEA COLOR SPLASH LIPSTICKS REVIEW
Let’s start with the packaging since first impressions count for some things. The Color Splash Lipsticks come housed in watery-blue beach glass-esque plastic packaging. It’s cute and fun, though not necessarily my cup of tea in terms of aesthetic. These retail for $27 CND so I would have preferred something a little more substantial feeling and sophisticated looking.
Having said that, we all know it is what’s on the inside that counts. In this case, Tarte claims a full coverage, hydrated lip colour with no feathering or bleeding. Upon first swatch and application to the lips I completely agree with the full coverage colour claim. Of the 7 shades I tried, all were richly pigmented, even ‘Beach Babe’ which is a super pale nude!Furthermore, in terms of feathering, I immediately looked to how the deep shades performed, as they tend to be more notorious for moving around. I’m happy to report that they clung to my lips really well, and didn’t migrate to other parts of my face (or teeth!).
Something I noticed that the brand doesn’t advertise about these, is that they all appeared to have a relatively matte finish. Usually when a product is promoted as hydrating and ‘revitalising’ that equates a more luminous finish, so I was surprised. I don’t find these lipsticks drying like most mattes, but I certainly wouldn’t call them hydrating as they are marketed. They simply sit somewhere in between for me. Thankfully they don’t accentuate the fine lines in my lips as much as a traditional matte lipstick might for me. If you struggle with matte lipstick texture, then it might be worth checking out these!
I’ll be honest and say that I normally am the type of girl who likes a more luminous, glossy lip colour. I don’t often wear super pigmented lipstick purely because I am lazy when it comes to reapplying! I realise I may not be the norm though and all of your that want bang for your buck in terms of colour payoff will certainly get it from the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Color Splash Lipsticks.Â
What do you think about the packaging of these? Does this type of lipstick appeal to you?

Tarte is one of my favorite brands. I haven’t tried any of their actual lipsticks. These sounds like something I would enjoy. http://www.mrsqbeauty.com
I’m personally obsessed with this packaging, even though I know people either love or hate it it seems. Just right up my alley though, turquoise is my true love haha
So many pretty colors. I would love Beach Babe! xo
I love the packaging! It makes the product stand out from a sea (heh) of black/gold/white lipstick tubes out there.

Hmm sound interesting, but ugh that packaging is so ugly! I wonder why they went full in with the oceanic theme this time considering the other products previously weren’t so obvious about it?
I’m with you. On Instagram everyone seems to love the packaging, but for $27 I expect more than plastic. They’re too chunky for me personally.
