THE Summer Blush You Need

Benefit GALifornia Blush Review and Swatch

If there is one thing you all should know after reading this blog for the last 4 years, it’s that I am a blush FANATIC. To clarify even further, I am a coral blush fanatic. If it comes in any variety of peach, coral, or peachy pink, I want it. So naturally I was eager to make a home in my collection for Benefit’s GALifornia Blush; the newest blush on the block. I’m calling it now folks: this has ‘Must Have Blush of the Summer’ written all over it!

GALifornia is quintessentially what I look for in a blush. The richly pigmented coral base has a soft peach shift with gold spun throughout that gives me LIFE. I get radiance without making me look like I have 4580475 fine lines and pores; Sadly, it’s older sister Coralista does exactly that (I’m chalking it up to too much frosty shimmer). I was originally worried that the gold overspray on the top would wear away quickly. While it does add a pretty design to the blush, there is a finely milled gold throughout when it does ddisappear

Just like the rest of Benefit’s blushes and bronzers, GALifornia comes in a sturdy cardboard box. While it isn’t my first choice for packaging, I do keep my babies blushes stacked neatly in a drawer. I imagine if you toted this around in a makeup bag you might feel more passionately about it. Having said that, the 60’s love child-esque theme is damn cute isn’t it?

Also like it’s predecessors, this little gem comes with a surprisingly soft flat blush brush. Now you might be tempted to chuck this (as I would with 99% of the crap applicators that come with powder products in cosmetics). Here’s when the exception to the rule comes in: Benefit actually does these little brushes very well. I hoard them and use them as contouring and highlighting brushes, which they work brilliantly for. Seriously try it, you’ll thank me.

Yep, I’m calling it: This is THE summer blush you all need. Yes, I said need. Benefit has a total gem on their hands with GALifornia and if you’ve been waffling on purchasing it, consider this my vote for YES.

      1. Sorry I didn’t mean anything bad (your swatch is pigmented) but my blush & from few of my friends who also have it it’s not that pigmented (shade is gorgeous but you really have to work with brush to get that much pigment…..) I live in Europe & bought mine in Germany while on trip there

          1. I don’t know what it is but maybe they really formulated it differently….for example I have Rimmel Kate palette bought in USA (pigmented & great & doesn’t feel like drugstore) but the one I bought for my sister is nothing simmilar (it’s ok for the price but not amazing or anything…..)

  1. Glad you are enjoying yours so much! I didn’t find there was a gold sheen at all which is what I was looking for! Maybe I’m a bit too tanned right now for it to show up nicely haha
