Easy Weekend Makeup Routine
I love a full face of makeup, and feel no shame about it. When people says things like, “You don’t need makeup” I like to point out that I also don’t need pants according to “No shirt, No shoes, No service” signs, but I happen to like to wear them.
On the weekends I like to cut back my makeup routine a bit sometimes, and there are definitely some products I like to reach for that make for an effortless look. Here’s how I get my easy weekend look…
Brush-Free Foundation & Concealer
I’ve been loving the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Foundation* and Bye Bye Undereye Waterproof Concealer* recently. The foundation is lighter in coverage than their CC+ Cream (which I also adore!) and the concealer is waterproof which I find creases less than the original. I actually prefer to apply both with my fingers and press into the skin.
Brighten the Complexion With the Perfect Combo
Benefit Hoola is a classic bronzer many have loved, and for good reason. The texture is silky and pigmented, and it has a great olivy undertone that doesn’t lean orange. In stark contrast, I love to pair a bright blush with a paired down look for that youthful glow, and the orange-peach of Becca’s Luminous Blush in Tigerlily* works a treat. It has a built-in, subtle shimmer that gives just the right amount of radiance.
Make Eyes Pop With Two Products
When I want to look rested, after perhaps a late Saturday night (you know, watching Netflix, because I’m way past my club-going days!) I reach for a bright ivory/cream shimmery shadow, and some super black mascara. Charlotte Tilbury Eyes to Mesmerise in Jean* is the perfect cream (forgiving) formula that can be patted on with a finger. I love to pair it with lashings of Lancome Grandiose Extreme* which is super black and gives great length.
Finish With Brows and Lips
I personally wish I could go au-natural with my brows, but I just wasn’t blessed with full enough brows and look a bit weird without them. Thankfully Benefit Gimme Brow has great pigment and fibres in it that actually gives just enough illusion of fuller brows.
As a final finishing touch, I like a lip product that does double duty and acts as a balm and colour in one. Tarte’s Quench Lip Rescue in Nude* gives that your-lips-but-better colour with great hydration!
Do you wear makeup on the weekends? What are your favourite products for an easy, effortless look?
Lol I love that pants comeback! Will have to use that next time someone questions my makeup habits!
Right? It’s such an unnecessary comment!
Awesome post! How does the Hoola Bronzer compare to the Charlotte Tilbury bronzer? I love the Charlote Tilbury bronzer but sometimes I feel it is too light even for my fair skin tone.
I prefer Charlotte’s for more sculpting, and Hoola for bronzing. Hoola is a bit deeper in pigment, or another great one is Stila’s Stay All Day Bronzer – which comes in a few different shades. I have medium and love it when I want a bit more impact 🙂
