Could it Be? A Glossier Cloud Paint Dupe For Canadians

Canadians take note: I’ve just found a dupe for the glossier cloud paints.

Cool-girl New York-based brand, Glossier, has been taking the beauty world by storm for a few years now. Built with an affordable, second-skin, less is more approach, Glossier has built up a cult following.

It’s basics, done well.

But once you convert the currency, pay the shipping and cross your fingers you won’t get dinged with duty, the affordableness of it goes out the window for Canadians.

One of their best sellers, Cloud Paints, elevated the cream blush trend a few years ago. Unsurprisingly, all cream blushes are not the same. When I saw Canadian Brand Quo Beauty had launched their Featherweight Cream Blush*, and the packaging looked incredibly similar, I knew I need to get them a try.

The Glossier Cloud Paints have definitely amassed a loyal following. They are pigmented, blendable, and settle down to a slightly dewy natural finish.

And guess what? So do the Quo Beauty Featherlight Cream Blushes! Before I get into a more wordy explanation of how these perform, here’s a quickie breakdown of the numbers:

QUO VS GLOSSIER PACKAGING

It’s pretty undeniable that the packaging on the Quo Featherlight Cream Blush is astonishingly similar to Glossier Cloud Paints. Both come in a squeeze tube with octagonal cap.

The Glossier is slightly smaller, and the Quo is a slightly more structured tube, holding its shape more.

Both indicate the shade inside on the tube making it easy for fishing out of a makeup bag.

GLOSSIER VS QUO FORMULA

Glossier refers to itself as an “A seamless, buildable gel-cream blush that’s enjoyable to apply and easy to wear” while Quo says theirs is a “Lightweight, fluffy formula that easily blends into a natural, fresh glow”.

If anything, I actually think these descriptions are slightly opposite. The Cloud Paints seem slightly “fluffier” (this seems like a bizarre term to use, but here we are…) and the Featherlight Cream Blush feels slightly more gel cream.

Basically, I’m splitting hairs here. The formulas feel incredibly similar on the skin, and perform in application identically.

GLOSSIER VS QUO FINISH

Both of these formulas blend out on the skin seamlessly and give a slightly blurred look to the skin, whilsts keeping a slight luminosity.

In swatches, the Glossier actually dry down a bit more flat, while the Quo had a slightly more natural finish.

Both are incredibly pigmented, yet still, allow for a slight translucency that gives them that blushed from within look.

Blended out, they are likely undetectable from each other.

GLOSSIER VS QUO LONGEVITY

Here’s where the Quo Featherlight Cream Blush actually performs differently; I personally feel the colour holds up better, longer with Quo.

While Cloud Paints always gave me that instant cream blush look, it’s not something I would reach for on days where I knew I needed my makeup to last. More so, I feel like the Glossier didn’t always wear away in the most flattering manner.

The Quo blushes hold their pigment longer, regardless of what base they are layered on top of. They also don’t wear off patchy as the Glossier ones do for me, which is a massive selling point for me.

SO ARE THEY DUPES?

YES, without a doubt, these are dupes if you ask me!

The differences between the two formulas are utterly minute. I actually polled my swatches on Instagram to see which people thought were the Cloud Paints and which the Featherlight Cream Blushes and every single person had them switched!

Other than the Quo bushes having more wear time for me, the only other obvious difference is the price, with Quo Featherlight Cream Blushes coming in at only 2/3 the price of Glossier Cloud Paints!

  1. This QUO blush did a NUMBER on my skin. I recommend everyone do a patch test before. This blush actually seeped into my cheeks, causing two bright red puffs the size of golf balls around my eyes and nose the next morning. I couldn’t open my eyes. I couldn’t go anywhere. And I would let it go if I had sensitive skin, but trust me- I do not. There’s something in there that’s causing this for not just me, but several of my friends. Be careful!!! This product is NOT a dupe.

Oh dear, sounds like you had a horrible allergic reaction to something in it! I do hope you went to the doctor and it is all cleared up.

They are dupes for texture and formula feel. As for ingredients, there’s no way to know since we don’t know the percentage of ingredients most cosmetics use.
