I DON’T KNOW ABOUT YOU ALL, THE WEIGHT OF THE WORLD HAS NOT BEEN KIND ON MY SKIN.
I have dry dull skin on a good day, but the stress of what’s going on in the world, paired with a toddler that’s gone nocturnal has been wreaking havoc on this face. Between dryness, breaking out, all makeup sinking into pores I didn’t know I had and texture on texture- well it’s been rough.
I’ve been reaching for all the glow enhancing products I can get. I’m craving that radiance, that plumped up skin, that youthful glow that just doesn’t come easy to me. But here’s the thing, not all glow-getting products do it for me; I don’t want glitter, sparkle or for my makeup to feel and stay sticky all day.I want natural-looking dewy skin.
I want glow, but it still needs to be wearable.
MY TOP 5 GLOW ENHANCING PRODUCTS
Most powder or cream highlighters that are meant to add glow and shimmer after your makeup is on. I love these for their own reasons, but when I want to look fresh, healthy… or even just alive, I reach for products that can be layered as skincare, primer or finishing step that add that dewy skin look back into my complexion.
With the glass skin trend being all the rage, it’s hard out here for a girl who’s on the late side of her mid-thirties, has some dryness and texture. You just can’t get the sheen that someone with more natural oils or youth on their side can get.
So I’ve picked some products that work for a multitude of dullness sins, and I promise there is something for everyone!

FOR RADIANCE ON A BUDGET
I adore this Wet n Wild Dewy Photofocus Primer*; It was a surprise hit for me! The shade is kind of a pale pearly bronze, so it doesn’t go on like the Tin Man if you have a complexion darker than Light. Yet, it doesn’t look muddy on pale skin either.
It blends in beautifully and sits really well under makeup without pilling or bunching. The texture is a hydrating lotion that gives plumpness to the skin, so it’s a fabulous option if you have dehydration as I do!
This is easily the most glowing option in this list, but don’t be fooled, it’s very skin-friendly.
THE ONE THAT HELPS YOUR MAKEUP LAST
The Becca Backlight Priming Filter is a product I have repurchased several times now. It gives a pearly colourless glow to the skin as a primer and actually helps my makeup stay fresh-looking longer.
The formula is an almost whipped lotion that sinks in and leaves the skin feeling soft as if it was a skincare step. There is no visible shimmer or sparkle in the formula and its more subtle than the other primer options mentioned.
THE ONE IF YOU’RE STILL WORRIED ABOUT PORES AND TEXTURE
I was surprised by the ELF Luminous Putty Primer; The name ‘putty’ didn’t inspire a lot of confidence in me that it was going to give some radiance.
The formula is like the original Poreless Putty Primer, but with a pale yellow/gold shift to it that posts radiance. I use this to smooth out my pores and along the tops of my cheek bones to create a smooth canvas for makeup that tends to show texture. The formula manages to smooth, fill and be radiant at the same time!
THE ONE THAT COMES IN MULTIPLE SHADES
It wouldn’t be a list of radiance favourites without Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter*. It’s just that gorgeous of a product!
You can wear this formula under your makeup as a primer step, or over as extra glossing. I love that Charlotte created multiple tones in this, since it is quite pigmented, it needs to be inclusive of all complexions.
The formula is a whipped cream that can be used to spot highlight, but I like to just swipe it all over. It’s hydrating and gives a slightly blurred look to the skin.
THE ONE THAT HAS NO COLOUR
I know what you’re thinking, but it’s true, the Pixi On the Glow Stick* is a solid balm-like stick that gives a beautiful sheen to the skin. Unlike anything else on this list, it has absolutely no colour or pearl to it; It is simply a solid balmy moisture stick that gives a gloss to the skin, but somehow doesn’t make your makeup disappear.
I like to warm up some of my hand and then use my fingertips to press it along my cheekbones for a genuine glass skin effect. It’s also fabulous for taking down dry or ashy spots in your complexion or makeup.
