My Top 5 Foundations for 2017

My complexion:  Dry and dehydrated with jawline redness and occasional hormonal chin breakouts. Some discolouration and uneven texture.

My foundation prerequisites: I like everything from light but buildable to full coverage. Natural/satin finish preferred and longevity a must. Neutral – yellow undertone equivalent to a MAC NC20

Estee Lauder Double Wear

Available at Sephora | FeelUnique | Ulta

Let’s just get this out of the way: I’m clearly the last person on the planet to try this foundation. In my head I always felt it would be super matte and much more suitable to oily skin, but I was wrong! I love the natural finish it gives and it stays put all day! Double Wear can be built to full coverage, but I’d call it medium to start. I wear shade 2N1.

Guerlain Lingerie de Peau*

Available at Sephora | Nordstrom | FeelUnique

This is my easy, don’t think about it too much foundation choice. It’s glowy and radiant but sets up and doesn’t stay tacky. Lingerie de Peau was reformulated and thankfully it no longer oxidizes and feels lighter on the skin. I will say the colour selection is absolute crap, and it is expensive, but I love that I could slap it on without a mirror and know it will look good. I’d consider this a light-medium coverage, and I wear shade 02N, which I wish was a bit more golden.

Giorgio Armani Power Fabric

Available at Sephora | Nordstrom | FeelUnique

I am SO glad Armani released this foundation. While I know Luminous Silk is their breadwinner, I always found it a bit matte for my tastes and not buildable. Power Fabric has a richer texture that feels more hydrating on my skin, and has a gorgeous skin like finish in a medium-full coverage! The shade range is slightly different as well; I used to mix 4 and 6 to get the right Luminous Silk shade, but Power Fabric I wear shade 4.5 on its own.

Huda Beauty #FauxFilter

Available at Sephora | Cult Beauty

I just recently reviewed this here, so I won’t go into too much detail other than to say if flawless full coverage is your bag, then this is your foundation. The shade range is extensive and inclusive, the finish is airbrushed, and it lasts all damn day. It is strongly perfumed though, just a heads up! I wear the shade 150 Creme Brulee.

NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer

Available at Sephora | Nordstrom | Ulta | FeelUnique

Unlike what the name suggests, this has more coverage than a traditional tinted product. I’d say it has light-medium coverage with a dewy, fresh finish. I love that I can set this with powder without it getting cakey, and I can apply it with my hands in a rush. Also unlike many tinted moisturizers, there are plenty of shades and they don’t lean super pink! I wear shades Finland and Alaska depending on the day.
