Tarte Hamptons Weekender Palette Review

[dropcap]G[/dropcap]iven that it’s the weekend at the time this post goes live, it seems only fitting to review the new Tarte Hamptons Weekender Palette! I love these little palettes; The name ‘Weekender’ really fits the concept of having blush bronzer and highlight all in one palm-sized compact! Of course, they really are only worth the purchase if the products inside perform. Given I know and love Tarte’s bronzer and blush formulas, I was holding it to some pretty high standards!

Just like Tarte’s hand-sized palettes have in the past, Hamptons Weekender comes in a heavy cardboard packaging with a decent mirror. If you keep this tossed in a makeup bag it might get a bit grubby over time, but it’s actually quite rugged in terms of fragility.

The three shades are equally divided in the palette between bronzer, blush and highlighter in what I would consider pretty universally flattering shades. Unlike the Park Avenue Princess Bronzer and Amazonian Clay Blushes which are pressed quite firmly, these kick up quite a bit. The pigmentation is fantastic, but be warned you really only need to tap your brush lightly into the powder! Tarte claims it is the same Amazonian Clay formula, but I honestly don’t know how that could be the case.

The bronzer, ‘Farmers Market’ is neither cool enough to be a contour, but isn’t unwearably warm either. Summer House’, the blush, is a warm dusty rose that gives a beautiful sunkissed look to the cheeks. The highlighter, ‘Beach Getaway’ is a typical champagne shade, which I personally found too sparkly for daytime. It looks stunning on, but a bit intense for my liking. Be warned if you don’t prefer something that glimmery (it really does look so pretty. I also love it on the eyes!).

In terms of longevity, these wore true to Tarte’s usual standard; I’ve come to rely on the brand for powder products that wear beautifully without going patchy through the day. My dry skin tends to eat blush and bronzer within hours and all three shades in this palette lasted all day!

Overall, for $30 CND, I’d say this palette is perfect for those who want everything in one. The shades really compliment each other and double as an eyeshadow as well. It’s perfect for the wanderlust traveller, busy mom, student or just to toss in your handbag for on the go makeup!
