The Great Cover Up | Four Different Concealers to Perfect Your Complexion
When it comes to concealers, there are so many options out there, it can be hard to know which one to choose for which purpose. I’ve picked four of my recent cover-up favourites and broken them down by which use they work best for to help save you a little time they next time you have a pesky blemish, dark circles or pigmentation you want to even out, pronto.
To brighten and even out the under eye area
IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye* – this creamy concealer isn’t drying or caky under the eyes, and melts right in with the warmth of fingers making it a quick fix for folks on the go. Unlike some creamy products, this is rather crease resistant and really blends into the skin avoiding that tell tale reverse raccoon look.
To colour correct under the eyes
Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage – for mornings when things are looking a little more drab that usual under my eyes, or dark circles are more present, I’ve been reaching for this. The slightly more peachy tone cancels out the darkness, but doesn’t need an additional concealer on top to complete the look. Another creamy product, this is meant specifically under the eye to avoid that crepey or gathered look and a little goes a long way.
To even out discolourations or larger portions of the face
Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer – such a versatile product that can be used for everything from under the eyes to pinpoint concealing to covering scars. I prefer to use this to cover slightly larger areas, such as redness on the cheeks, sun/age spots or when you have a cluster of breakouts all together. Because this is super pigmented, you can build it up gradually as needed, where other concealing products become overloaded and do the exact opposite in their original purpose.
To cover blemishes
Laura Mercier Secret Concealer* – this cult classic is a rather dry, slightly waxy consistency that makes it perfect to pin point conceal blemishes. I use it with an eyeliner style brush, warm up a bit of product and then dot it on spots. This isn’t the one you want to reach for under eyes or for covering larger portions of the face, this is meant to be used to cover small imperfections to achieve an utterly flawless base.
There you have four very different products for four different uses. Which are your favourite concealing products and what do you use them for?
