The Artistry Series Volume #1 | Charlotte Tilbury (+ GIVEAWAY)
“Give a woman the right makeup, and she can conquer the world”
I am so excited to share the newest series on Girl Loves Gloss: The Artistry Series.
Over the next few months I will be featuring brands from all over the world that were created and inspired by makeup artists themselves! Naturally I had to kick things off with the incredible Charlotte Tilbury, who’s range has taken beauty counters and makeup lovers by storm since it launched.
Don’t forget to stick around till the end of the post for a chance to win a Lip Lustre in Candy Darling and Lip Cheat Lip Pencil in Pillow Talk (one of Charlotte’s cult products)!!
Charlotte discovered the power of makeup at 13 when she wore mascara for the first time and realized how transformative makeup can be. Back and forth between trendy London, and laid back Ibiza, she developed her love of the beauty industry and after a chance meeting with famed makeup artist Mary Greenwell, decided to pursue the career that would lead her to years of backstage at the runways, as well as iconic photoshoots and campaigns.
If you ever watch an interview about Charlotte talking about her line, you can hear the passion in her voice – she exudes confidence in her products and had first hand in the design and creation of every single item. You could say that Charlotte’s love for makeup is endless, in this interview with Sali Hughes she reveals that she wears makeup to bed! (She cleanses and then reapplies… naturally!)
So, let’s talk about the products shall we, because it’s probably been no surprise I’ve been in love since the moment I tried the line. I can honestly say this is one of the most rock solid makeup lines as a whole I have come across. I find most brands do a handful of products really well, and then have hit or misses. The simply stunning rose gold packaging and art deco style screams luxury and just adds that extra glam feel that makes you feel like you’re putting on something really special (and you are!)
Here are some products that I would consider “must-try’s”:
Charlotte’s Magic Cream: Charlotte initially became famous for her ‘Magic Cream’ backstage. She had concocted it herself as a super hydrating, plumping, transformative treatment that she slathered on faces pre-makeup application. It became her calling card, and now she’s kindly released it to buy for the rest of the world. I got myself a small sample of it not long ago and now have the full size on my ‘to buy’ list asap. It’s heavenly.
Rock ‘n’ Kohl Iconic Liquid Eye Pencil : If there’s one thing Charlotte is known for, it’s her winged liner aka ‘feline flick’. She makes winging out that eyeliner look utterly effortless and quite often uses pencil for a sultrier effect. She created her pencil to have the fluidity and pigment of a liquid, with no nonsense approach, and I can attest that it is ultra smooth and sets to a no smudge waterproof finish.
Cheek to Chic Swish & Pop Blusher: Being a self proclaimed blush fanatic, I have pretty high standards. Charlotte’s blush are two tones beautifully paired together that gives dimension to the cheek. Instead of shimmer that can magnify pores and imperfections, hers are laced with a touch of pearl that brings a youthfulness to the skin without sparkle. Love Glow is a gorgeous muted rose laced with golden pearl, and then a slightly brighter pop of pink in the center that manages to perk up my enter complexion and pairs with any look!
Filmstar Bronze & Glow Face Sculpt and Highlight: Oh I coveted this for a long, long time. I’d heard everywhere that the bronze/contour side was beautifully toned (not as warm as a bronzer, yet not as ashy as a traditional contour shade) and the highlighter was incredibly finely milled. Of course as soon as I got it in my hot little hands I knew the reviews weren’t lying: this is stunning. Is it expensive? Yes. Is it luxurious? Yes. Does it make me look like I have Gisele cheekbones when I actually have none? YES.
