Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter

Charlotte Tilbury has always been about sophisticated, healthy-looking glow that works on any age of skin. Unlike many of the frosty, metallic and glitter cream and liquid highlighters we’re seeing right now, the Hollywood Flawless Filter adds a glossy sheen that genuinely brings a youthful appearance to the complexion! While there might have been some confusion at launch about what this product actually is meant to do, I have no doubt it’s a try and love type. Keep reading to find out how I use it, why I love it, and why you might too!

Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter 2 Review

So how is this different from any other glowing primer or base? The applicator is a large doe foot, so you can easily spot highlight where you choose. While I normally prefer a pump, I do appreciate being able to control how much product I dispense. The actual formula of the product is thicker than a liquid foundation, almost whipped. I don’t necessarily find it ‘blurs’ imperfections so-to-speak, but it does deflect from them in a way that doesn’t highlight fine lines and texture.

When applying before foundation, I draw it on with the applicator, then buff it in with my foundation brush or my hands. This is my favourite way to get that lit from within, youthful glow. I’ve also mixed it into my foundation and applied together. If I want to amp up the glow,  I pick up some product on a dense brush and to stipple it onto my cheeks, post foundation.

Unlike many highlighting creams and liquids, this doesn’t have a frosty or metallic look to it. What it does instead, is delivers this sunlit pearly sheen that is reminiscent of youthful skin.  In fact, with my dry skin I’ve found I can really wear it all over underneath my foundation. On it’s own, it does even out the complexion a little, though I prefer still wearing foundation or tinted moisturizer on top for coverage.

Another smart move on Charlotte’s part was offering Hollywood Flawless Filter in 7 shades. With many highlighting products on the market staying comfortable in shades of champagne and pale pink, it’s refreshing to see more inclusivity. Not all deep complexions want that stark pale highlight, and this is where Hollywood Flawless Filter really comes into play.  With a few undertones, and varying from pale to deep, it really is created to look ‘flawless’ and not obvious.

Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter

In all honesty, I wasn’t planning on purchasing the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter. I just didn’t think I needed it (do we ever really need more products? yes). I was lucky enough to be sent it, and I can confidently say I’ve used it every day since! Turns out I didn’t know that I needed this in my life, and now I’ve seen the light. I’d even consider picking up a more golden shade in hopes this face might actually get a bit of a tan this summer!
