Yet Another Naked Palette?

[dropcap]I[/dropcap]f there is one thing Urban Decay has become known for in the last 7 or 8 years, its the term “Naked”. With more than a handful of palettes in the range, I often find myself wondering how much further the name can stretch. As I mentioned in this post, I was a big fan of the last full-sized Naked Palette, Naked Heat*. When I saw there was a small version, Naked Petite Heat*, I wondered if it was at all necessary?

Of course the minute I saw this palm-sized Naked Palette, I checked to see if there were any repeat shades to its older sister, Naked Heat. Urban Decay has done this in the past, and I find it a bit annoying when I have both palettes. Having said, that I am a collector and I recognize not everyone will have both. Cutting to the chase, there are no duplicates here – all 6 shades are new. Naked Petite Heat, can very much be used as a companion to Naked Heat.

The shade selection is even warmer in this palette. Orange is the main take from this, and I’ll admit that I find it just too warm for me to make wearable all on its own. The larger Naked Heat Palette offers more neutrals to offset the burnt coppers and terracottas.

Urban Decay states that this palette has 6 matte shadows. One of the shades (Inhale) is a ‘demi-matte’ which in my mind just means satin without having to call it satin. Having always been a fan of Urban Decay’s matte formula, I was a bit disappointed here. I found the texture drier to the touch than I am used to with Urban Decay. The formula didn’t have as much blendability as I expected either. Because of this, I felt I needed to use more product to get the shadows to blend, which led to a bolder look I was wanting. I generally don’t want to work this hard to make a palette work for me.

I love the adorable and compact packaging of Naked Petite Heat, but in all honesty, I wouldn’t have bought it already having the Naked Heat Palette. If you’re an orange or really warm shadow lover, you will love this. Otherwise, I recommend forking out the extra $ and getting the Naked Heat, which offers more versatility for your money!
