Make Up For Ever Artist Face Color | Nailing The Custom Palette Concept

Make Up For Ever Artist Face Color Review

[dropcap]M[/dropcap]ake Up For Ever certainly isn’t new to the custom palette concept. The brand launched their Artist Shadows a couple years back now. While the quality is amazing, I find the round pans in plastic palettes clunky and kind of cheap looking. It seems they’ve re-evaluated things in terms of expanding to a custom palette for face, and things just got a whole lot sleeker!

First and foremost, I’m pleasantly surprised by the sleek black compacts made for these. The concept is that you choose one, two or three pans of colour, and then plunk them into the corresponding compact. I love that Make Up For Ever has styled these to match the Excessive Lash Mascara and Artist Rouge Lipsticks. The matte black with silver detailing has the brand looking much more cohesive and stylish. Unlike the shadows, these come with a mirror inside as well, making much better use of the shape and space.

I was also taken back at first by the size of the powder pans that go into the compact! I’m honestly not sure why I was expecting them to be smaller, but at 5 grams these are a nice generous size. The pans themselves come a la carte, with almost 3 dozen options in matte and shimmer finishes. They range from blush, to contour to highlight, meaning you can complete a full face look in one little palette!

I expected the Artist Face Color pans to have superior pigment because that is what I have always known from Make Up For Ever. I was not disappointed. You can see from the swatches that both the contour and blush shade I chose has a skin-like texture minus any chalkiness. These buff into the skin seamlessly without clinging in patches or going on powdery. The wear time is also beautiful, with both lasting through the day just as I would expect from a brand that is known for making long wear cosmetics.

Honestly, I love when a brand commits to a new product launch like this. There is a wide gamut of shades to choose from. There are options in terms of buying singles, doubles or triples. Best of all, you don’t end up with a palette that only has one shade you really like. When it comes to giving both the consumer and the makeup artists options, Make Up For Ever has nailed it again!
