How to Look Amazing When You Have No Time

how to get ready fast

It’s nowhere near the weekend and you just need that extra 10 minutes (*cough 20*) of sleep. Now you’re running late and you need to look presentable with minutes to spare. I’ve got my tried and true products for looking great without much thought, as well as some tips to save even more time. Whether it’s off to work, to take the kids to school or simply because you don’t love taking the time to get ready, I’ve got you covered!

HOW TO LOOK AMAZING WHEN YOU HAVE NO TIME

Tackling Should-Be-Washed Hair

First thing’s first: get some dry shampoo in your life. I swear there are days where my hair is a mix of 50% dry shampoo and bobbi pins to make it look less terrifying. If you have stubbornly greasy hair, spray it at your roots before bed. Don’t work it in or brush it out, just pop your hair up and let it get to work while you sleep. In the morning spray a little more and work into your hair and it will look as fresh as a freaking daisy my friends!

If you’re a brunette like me, tinted dry shampoo will be your best friend. My all time favourite is the Batiste for Medium-Deep Brunettes. Make sure to choose something that actually aims to cleanse and not a texturizing spray, which might make your hair look more greasy! This is the perfect time to pull your hair up into a pony, bun or braid; The dry shampoo step will make it look deliberate and not desperate.

STEPS WORTH SKIPPING

Obviously one of the best ways to have your hurried-up makeup routine down is to know which products work well without any effort. I also know which steps I am not willing to skip; For me that is brows, I just need them. If I’m really rushing I will skip foundation, and go straight for a concealer if needed.

You can compensate with a little extra blush and bronzer to perk up the face. I love Benefit Hoola for its neutral undertone when it comes to bronzer. For blush, I reach for a bright coral because it restores all the life back to my face; A fave brightening blush is Hourglass Diffused Heat*. The combo of the two of these makes for a healthy looking complexion even if I skip the foundation and both take less than a minute to apply.

LOOKING AWAKE WHEN YOU AREN’T

For eyes I like to choose a cream shadow for easy application patting it on with a finger. A champagne or gold shade always looks polished and doesn’t show harsh lines or lack of blending. Charlotte Tilbury Eyes to Mesmerise in Jean* is the perfect one and done for this!

Another step I might skip is eyeliner. Instead, I’ll put on an extra coat of mascara for drama. I’ve been loving the Make Up For Ever Excessive Lash* because of how black and dramatic it is. If you’re looking a little worse for wear (ie hungover perhaps…) then pop a brightening ivory toned liner like Urban Decay Waterline Pencil in Walk of Shame* in your waterline. It’ll make you look like you didn’t actually need that second cup of coffee. I also always always always take the time to curl my lashes; It’s the difference between looking dead and alive for me! I live for my Shu Uemura Lash Curler and you should too!

Finally, the thought of spending precious time applying a liquid lipstick or bold lip is risky to me. Instead I reach for something low maintenance that can be reapplied without a mirror (like while at a red light…). I’ve been loving the Dior Lip Glow in Berry* for a natural berry pout minus the hassle of a lipstick.

  1. Hi there would you mind stating which blog platform you’re using? I’m going to start my own blog soon but I’m having a tough time choosing between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your design and style seems different then most blogs and I’m looking for something unique. P.S My apologies for getting off-topic but I had to ask!

  2. Write more, thats all I have to say. Literally, it seems as though you relied on the video to make your point. You definitely know what youre talking about, why throw away your intelligence on just posting videos to your site when you could be giving us something enlightening to read?

  3. Hmm is anyone else encountering problems with the images on this blog loading? I’m trying to figure out if its a problem on my end or if it’s the blog. Any feed-back would be greatly appreciated.|
