As if MAC didn’t already have a diverse enough lipstick range when it comes to colour and formula, they’ve gone and expanded even more with the Liptensity Lipstick line. They are described as “pushing the boundaries of colour” and “intense amounts of pigment” paired with a gelled base that supposedly melts on contact. Sounds amazing right? Well, I had to test them out for myself, and figured I’d share one with you all, along with the MAC Light Festival Palette! Make sure to read and find out how you can enter to win this colour-jammed MAC bundle as my 12 Days of Christmas Giveaways #2!
You may notice right from the start that MAC Liptensity Lipsticks are packaged differently from the brand’s classic matte black bullets. Personally, I LOVE this; My stupidly large collection means I end of storing my lipsticks upside down so I know which shade is which. The coloured caps that coordinate with all 24 of the shades inside makes these easy to find in a handbag and make picking your favourite shade out of your collection super speedy.
You may also notice that Liptensity Lipsticks aren’t shaped in the traditional MAC bullet as well, but rather like the Huggable Lipcolour formula, with a slanted yet flat top. I can see how this might be annoying if you are the type that likes that chiselled point on your lipstick, but I still find the edges are enough to give definition when applying.
I was really impressed on how much I enjoyed the formula of the Liptensity Lipstick I tried. I got the shade Smoked Almond, a warm peachy neutral, and it applied beautifully, covering my lips in one swipe. Unlike many of the MAC lipstick formulas which I tend to find slightly drying, Liptensity felt smooth and silky, with a balm like texture. I loved how it left my lips feeling and looking plumped and hydrated and didn’t settle into lip lines or on chapped spots! For the few dollars more this formula cost over the original bullet lipsticks, I am totally willing to pay for a lipstick that feels weightless yet nourishing. On the flip side, while it was hydrating, it didn’t blend or migrate – win win!
So, what if I told you I also have a MAC Lipstensity Lipstick for one of you?? What if I told you it was the perfect, season appropriate, red shade called Mulling Spices? Oh wait, there’s more! What if I told you I was also going to through in the limited edition Diwali themed Light Festival 9x Shadow Palette??
