Sunday Splurges | Tatcha Gold Camellia Nourishing Lip Balm

Tatcha Gold Camellia Nourishing Lip Balm Review
Now, I’m not normally one for expensive or luxurious lipbalms. I’ve found some great options for under $10 (like my beloved Jack Black Intense Therapy!) but every once in awhile I get the chance to try something super swanky, and in this case it is the Tatcha Gold Camellia Nourishing Lip Balm. Ever since falling in love with the Luminous Dewy Skin Mist, I had a feeling the brand would have a winner with their new lippie, and I was correct!

The Tatcha Gold Camellia Nourishing Lip Balm comes with a layer of 24k Gold leaf on the top – yep, legitimate real gold people! Besides upping the glamour factor significantly, the gold doesn’t really have much of a use (other than it does leave little glimmers of gold on the lips until you rub away the first layer), but I have to be honest, it really does give a stunning first impression.
Housed in a glass jar with periwinkle blue lid, the balm itself is actually totally clear. The formula is rich with Camellia oil, which is a long time Geisha secret to hydrate and protect skin. It has a very subtle barely there scent fresh scent which I am guessing comes from this oil, but it honestly isn’t detectable once on the lips for those worried about sensitivities. The balm applies wonderfully smooth, plumps up the lines in my forever-dry lips and leaves a sheen that makes my lips look young and hydrated – basically everything I could ask for in a lip balm! My only qualm is that I generally don’t love dipping my finger in a pot for lipbalm, but the texture of this isn’t waxy or sticky like most lip balms, so it really doesn’t factor into my decision, personally.
I’m really delighted with this balm, it wears really well under lipstick, doesn’t leave a film behind or gather in the corners of my mouth (I hate that!) and true to Tatcha mantra – has no parabens, synthetic fragrance, mineral oil, sulfates, phthalates, urea, DEA or TEA in it. Besides all that, the packaging is stunning, making it a fabulous gift idea for someone who deserves a luxurious little treat, or a true lip balm lover (like myself!).
Tatcha is partnered with Room to Read, an organization that provides education for girls across Africa and Asia. Every full sized product purchased pays for one day of schooling for a girl who otherwise wouldn’t get it. Just in case you needed a little more motivation to hit ‘add to cart’ today, this is totally a splurge worth splurging for!
