This Just In | L’Oreal Brow Stylist Definer

L'Oreal Brow Stylist Definer in Dark Brunette Review and Swatch Comparison to Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz
Finding decent brow products at the drugstore has always evaded me. My biggest challenge has been finding something in the ‘brunette’ range that isn’t red tinged or golden in tone. The struggle has been real, which left me always purchasing high end products at 2-3 times the cost in order to get a decent match to my cool toned dark brown hair. I’ve been so let down, I almost didn’t pick up the L’Oreal Brow Stylist Definer when I saw it in a new display the other day, figuring it was just like all the others – but guess what? It’s not!

My first impression was that it looked just like a slew of new brow products are modelled after: The Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz. At 0.003oz it has the same amount of product as the Brow Wiz, and the same skinny tip pencil on one end and narrow spoolie on the other. You can see in the picture below that they look near identical to each other.

Secondly, I was so thrilled to see that L’Oreal helped all us cool toned haired girls out by making an ashy brown pencil! This makes my Brow Wiz in Medium Ash look positively warm in side by side comparison. In fact, it’s almost too ashy for me – but I find that so much easier to work with than something too warm.
So let’s get on to how it performs, shall we? The product itself is very soft and glides on super easily (it’s not nearly as waxy feeling as the Brow Wiz).  This may be a good or bad thing, depending on your skin type. Since I am dry, and set with a brow gel anyways, I have no problems with it moving during the day. The tiny tip makes feathery strokes possible and unlike the Brow Wiz, the L’Oreal Definer doesn’t take going over the same spot over and over to build up colour. If you’re heavy handed with your brow pencil then this might be too much for you, but for myself who has sparse patches, it makes filling in so much more uniform and even.
Now I will admit there is a downside to this and that it the shade range – there are only 3. This is where Anastasia Beverly Hills has a winner (yet, none of them actually match me as well as I would like!) I am hoping that this is a hit for L’Oreal and they add another shade or two in the range. I plan on picking up the middle Brunette shade (I bought mine in Dark Brunette) to have both for a little depth – and considering the price of one Brow Wiz will cover the cost of two Definers, I am happy to do so!

Overall – I am beyond thrilled to now have a drugstore alternative to my expensive brow habit. While other brands have tried (NYX had the world’s scratchiest spoolie, and Maybelline made theirs hard to find and too warm) the L’Oreal Brow Stylist Definer is a total hit for me! Next on the list to try? The Stylist Plumper Brow Gel which my British blogger buddies have been raving about for some time!
