Besides having one of the longest names of life for a mascara, the IT Cosmetics Tightline Waterproof Full Lash Length Mascara Primer might just have the tiniest little brush you’ve ever seen. Touted as a primer, mascara and lash serum all in one, this stuff has gotten some serious attention online since it’s release – but does that teeny tiny little wand do what it says on the tin?

When I saw just how skinny the applicator wand of this mascara truly is in real life (its 2 maybe 3mm in diameter max) I was really intrigued by the concept behind the wand being able to get right into the root of the lashes, almost like a tightline effect you would normally get with eyeliner. The idea behind this concept is that the darkness at the base or root of the lash is what gives the effect of fuller, thicker lashes. I will say that the wand does get right to the root, but I am not sold on the fact that it deposits any more product than a regular mascara wand. I also found the formula to be quite dry – almost as if it was dried out a bit, which led to me having to put the wand back in the tube a few times for each eye to get one even coat. I’d love to hear some feedback from others regarding this, to see if mine actually was dried out, or if the formula truly is this dry. Because this has less product volume by half that a standard mascara (3.5ml vs the 7 or 8ml on my other mascaras) I could see myself going through this super fast, especially if the formula does actually run this dry.
Over all, I actually think this works really well as a primer to separate and hold the curl in your lashes, as well as get the inner and outer corners before applying your regular mascara. It also works brilliantly on the bottom lashes for a natural enhanced look, instead of clumping up those baby lashes with a heavier formula. I found the waterproof claim accurate, and it didn’t flake or smudge on me at all. It also layered well, which meant my regular, more volumizing mascara wore well on top when so many waterproof formulas do not allow this.
As a regular mascara, I just think I would personally go through it way too fast, but I do think this would be brilliant on those who have naturally short eyelashes or who really struggle getting the wispy hard to reach lashes. This would also be great for those who really want a natural, yet defined look to their eyelashes.
Have you tried IT Cosmetics Tightline Full Lash Length Mascara Primer? Did you find the formula as dry as I have? Inquiring minds need to know!
