Weekend Edition | The Valentine’s Face

valentines day, illamasqua hollow, laura mercier, mac blush, nars velvet matte lip cruella, urban decay perversion

Anyone who knows me, knows I wear makeup for myself and no one else. Having said that, I’m totally not above using a holiday (Hallmark or not) to inspire my look – heck, St Patricks Day is pretty much the perfect excuse for me to rock bright green eyeshadow, amiright? Here’s the look I went for this Valentine’s Day… it even includes the much expected (though not from me) red lip.

On the eyes I went with a soft pinky mauve look, blending Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream in #16 on the lid and Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in Amethyst through the crease. I finished the eyes with a touch of Urban Decay Perversion 24/7 Eyeliner.

Cheeks were highlighted by pairing Illamasqua Hollow Cream Pigment for some subtle contouring and Mac Immortal Flower Blush for a warm neutral hue as to not clash with the lips – which I penciled in with Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella, a true slightly blue based red that makes teeth look hella white.

I normally would never wear red lipstick… it’s just not in my rotation of comfort level lippies, but I’m trying to go there a bit more. I love the way this red finishes to a creamy matte – it feels much more youthful and fresh to me than a glossy version.

What makeup did you sport on Valentine’s Day?
