In the world of makeup, chocolate has been all the rage for a while now. With cosmetic brands like Too Faced actually using real cocoa in the making of some of their most popular products, and the classic 90’s lip making a resurance, brown is everywhere again! Here’s a fun little compilation of my favourite chocolate hued items that I can’t get enough of.
The infamous bronzer from Too Faced not only smells like chocolate, but is actually made with cocoa powder and comes in three shades for all skintones. There’s a reason why these bronzers have holy grail status for many; The neutral brown shade doesn’t run too orange or yellow and the silky matte finish looks undetectable on the skin!
This is possibly my most favourite brown shadow ever (I know, that is a serious claim!). It’s a rich espresso laced with gold that makes the most stunning liner, or smoky eye. It’s my go to for a sultry look when I want drama but not the harshness of black.
I always thought the classic black Trooper shade would be my favourite, but the blackened brown of Mad Max has easily taken the #1 spot! It looks almost black on the eyes, but the subtle warmth of the brown makes the green in my eyes pop that much more!
I’ve mentioned it a few times now, but I’m totally in love with my new watch! I’ve had so many compliments on it, and the rich chocolate brown leather strap just looks better and better as it gives a little! If you’ve been wanting to treat yourself, the good folks at Daniel Wellington have an incredible deal on right now: Get a free bonus strap with any watch until June 13th 2016 (that’s like two watches for the price of one!) and take 15% off with code GIRLLOVES + plus they ship worldwide for free!
Now, normally I’d leave brown lipstick in the 90’s where I last wore it as a teenage, but something about this formula and shade makes it so easy to wear! The formula is balmy and smoothing, and the brown isn’t too intense, with a subtle mauve undertone that makes it like a ‘your-lips-but-browner’ shade.
While I wasn’t too fussed about the first two ‘chocolate’ themed palettes by Too Faced, the Bon Bons is a totally different story. I love the matte browns that they’ve combined with a few pops of colour and the balance of warm and cool in this palette.
I know the name suggests this is more plummy, but the burnt reddy browns and cool dark chocolate in this palette are stunning! This is most definitely a green eyed girl’s palette – I find myself reaching for it constantly.
The Eyes to Mesmerize are a gorgeous formula of moussey cream shadows, and the shade Mona Lisa is a beautiful bronzy brown that can be sheared out or built up for intensity. This shade in particular makes a fab base for a smokey eye!
This is another case of me loving a blackened brown instead of black for eyeliner. I use this solely for tightline/water-lining, and the brown tint to it does so much more for my eye colour than black. I find sometimes black goes kinda greeny/grey in the waterline, but the deep brown of Rail stays the same colour for hours and hours!
