CREAM SHADOW | My Favourite Long Wear Cream Eyeshadows
A good cream eyeshadow can have you covered in so many situations. Late for work? Swipe one on with lashings of mascara. Not comfortable going sans makeup to the gym or the beach? A little waterproof cream shadow perks up bare eyes. You’re favourite shadow just doesn’t pack enough punch on it’s own? You guessed it by now, start with a cream base.
Here’s a breakdown of my favourites and why I love them >>
Left to Right, Top to Bottom
MAC Perky Pro Longwear Paint Pot – a cream formula with very subtle pearl. I’d say it is a pinked up peach and layers so well under peach, rose gold and pink shadows.
Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream #14 – a chocolate with red pearl laced. As a liner it is very reminiscent of MAC Teddy Eye Kohl, except it lasts until you take it off.
MAC Soft Ochre Pro Longwear Paint Pot – for me this is the ultimate skin toned base. It’s what I use under matte shadows and suites my colour way better than it’s famous sister, Painterly, which runs to grey/pink for me.
Benefit Creaseless Cream in Skinny Jeans – a pearly warm pewter grey which is a great all over wash, or can take on a slight greenish hue paired with the right shades. I find it hard to find shades like this that don’t run too cool silver/blue, Skinny Jeans has a warmth to it that makes a great smokey eye base!
Dior Mono Fusion in Chimere – don’t let the swatches fool you they just didn’t do justice. This is one of my all time favourites! It’s a gorgeous rose gold sparkle, when patted on top of other shadows creates a stunning duochrome effect. On its own with a little liner its super feminine and pretty, and always pulls a compliment.
Dior Mono Fusion in Etoile – similar to the other shade, this one really pops when used as a topper over other shadows. Its a shimmering gold and silver platinum. In fact it is quite unique in the sense that it works over cool and warm bases. I love this patted over matte shadow just on the lid for a little glam.
Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze – a true bronze that isn’t too brassy and works as a great sweep over the lid and go shade. It’s a true classic neutral that works well for everyone.
Benefit Creaseless Cream in RSVP – Think pearly champagne pink but not to the point of being metallic. I love this as an everyday base when paired with soft shimmery shadows.
Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream #16 – A rosy shade with golden sheen that doesn’t have that coppery rose gold tone, but rather a pinker version. This shade is really stunning on my green eyes, and since owning it I’ve had someone compliment my eye makeup every single time I’ve worn it. It has the ability to look dimensional even when its worn alone all over the lid into the crease. Out of all my cream shadows, this has the most true to pot pigmentation!
There you have a breakdown of my 9 favourite cream shadows and why. Not a single one of them is like another and all worth the money in my mind. Everyone of this cream eyeshadows have lasted all day with creasing on me, with the Make Up Forever Aqua cream in #16 and Dior Mono Fusion shadows lasting the longest without any fading.
What are your favourite cream shadows and bases? Have you tried any of the brands/shades mentioned?
